Tamil Nadu rewards curiosity. My Tamil Nadu brings those connections into one practical place. The aim is to help residents, families, students, researchers and visitors discover what is present, learn why it matters and explore with greater context.
The site is broader than a tourism blog. It combines place-based discovery with history, culture, nature and responsible travel planning. A district guide should lead naturally to its cities, heritage and landscapes; a temple guide should acknowledge both architecture and living worship; and a trip idea should help a reader check seasons, distances and current conditions before setting out.

English and Tamil
The main English section provides the broadest set of published guides and planning tools. A தமிழ் section is being developed selectively so that useful material can be presented naturally in Tamil rather than treated as an automatic line-by-line conversion.
Not every English page currently has a Tamil equivalent, and the existence of a language switch does not imply complete translation coverage. Tamil pages are published where the content and navigation have been prepared for that audience. Coverage will expand carefully over time.
How we approach information
Each guide begins with the reader’s likely question: what is this place or subject, where does it belong, why does it matter and what should someone know before engaging with it? Pages then connect that answer to districts, destinations, related themes and practical next steps.
- Research important factual claims before publication and choose sources suited to the claim.
- Prefer authoritative and primary sources for official designations, protected areas, notices and institutional facts.
- Separate historical, cultural and geographic context from details that change frequently.
- Qualify uncertainty, competing interpretations and incomplete evidence instead of presenting them as settled.
- Update or remove claims when reliable new information shows that they are no longer accurate.
This approach does not make the website infallible. It creates a clear standard for improving the work and for responding constructively when a reader identifies a problem.

Sources are selected according to subject and may include the Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India, district administrations, the Archaeological Survey of India, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the India Meteorological Department, UNESCO, official museums, universities, research institutions, transport authorities and responsible official tourism or institutional publications.
A source is evidence for a particular statement; it is not a blanket endorsement of every statement on a page. Links to a government department, institution or external service do not imply that the organisation sponsors, approves or partners with My Tamil Nadu. Accuracy and changing information
We work to make published information accurate and useful, but no travel or reference website can guarantee that every detail remains current at every moment. Tamil Nadu’s places are living environments. Local administration, weather, conservation needs, worship, maintenance and public events can all affect what a visitor encounters.
Evergreen information
Historical context, geography, architectural vocabulary, cultural background and broad landscape descriptions usually change slowly. These guides are reviewed against suitable references and updated when evidence or editorial understanding changes.
Current information
Opening hours, entry fees, temple timings, festival dates, closures, road conditions, transport schedules, weather, permits and official notices can change quickly. Confirm details with the responsible authority or operator close to the time of travel.
When reliable current data is unavailable, the site should say so. It should not invent a live status, predict access or convert an old notice into a present-day claim. Safety-critical decisions should always rely on the relevant official authority and conditions on the ground.
An independent website
My Tamil Nadu is independently developed and published. It is not an official website of the Government of Tamil Nadu or the Government of India, and it does not represent any district administration, municipal body, temple administration, transport operator, tourism department, protected-area authority, museum, educational institution or private venue.
Names, logos and links belonging to external organisations are used only where relevant for identification, context or verification. Their inclusion does not automatically indicate affiliation, approval, sponsorship or endorsement.
Advertising and affiliate transparency
To support the cost of publishing and maintaining the website, My Tamil Nadu may in the future display advertising, use eligible affiliate links or enter clearly identified commercial partnerships. Where an eligible link results in compensation, it would generally be at no additional cost to the reader. Any material relationship should be disclosed where it is relevant.

Saved Places, checklists and some planning preferences use storage in the browser on your device. They do not require an account. Near Me requests geolocation only after you choose to use it, and permission can be denied or withdrawn through your browser. External map handoffs and data providers apply their own terms when their services are used.
